The GS race here in St. Moritz was a bittersweet experience. I DNFed at the 3rd last gate after a really good run. I was actually 4th at the last intermediate, but as I’ve become such a dear devil and have itchy needs to push limits, I pushed it a little too much! Well, well…better to live on the edge, than never to have lived at all…or at least that’s what I keep telling myself. I didn’t even know I skied so well, cause I was too busy banging my head agains the wall, breaking poles and swearing to everyone that got in my way… Or something like that. Anyhow, when I did see the times, it’s a bittersweet feeling to ski so fast, but then fuck it up. You have to take the positives out of it and take all the confidence you can from that experience!
I decided to stay in St. Moritz after the World Cup to race the European cup speed races, and with that I would not be able to ski the downhill in Val D’Isere! I needed to get my downhill points down.. Not that I’m complaining about starting around the last 5 racers every DH race, but you know…it would help if I actually wanted to go for something better than a top 30 result! Well, you can say I got what I came for…with interests!!! I came 2nd in my first DH race, beaten by 1/100 of a second by the Canadian speed machine Larisa Yurkiw! She’s practically my teammate so that was a good day! Yesterday we had two races in one day: a DH and a SG… And just to brag big time… I won them both!! 😀
That was insane! I only have one podium in the EC from before and now I got 3 in 2 days! I’m super happy with that, obviously!!
After the race I traveled over to Val D’Isere since I’m gonna do the GS race on Sunday! I really hope I could continue where I left of in the GS from St. Moritz, but I’m gonna do my best and hopefully finish this time! Tune in on Sunday to see if I did my homework 😉
